I borrowed this saw from an electrician friend and made a few cuts and was impressed with how light the saw was, how well it cut and how well it seemed to be made. Based on these test cuts I ordered one, buyin the much more expensive model with the better batteries and one hour quick charger. The first time I used it after fully charging the batteries, I was disapointed that it only cut for about 20 minutes of repeated cutting through 16 ga. tubing. To compound the problem the one hour quick charger seemed to take significantly longer to charge than an hour. Bottom line was that it couldn't keep up with the kind of use I needed it for, so I sent it back. On the bright side, Tool King/Amazon was great about taking it back and promptly processing a refund and didn't charge a restocking fee.

If Stout ever comes out with a Li-Ion version, I will probably buy one.

I;ve had this tool for about five years now. It is almost never used to drill holes. Myself, and fellow contractor friends, have relegated this tool exclusively for use in High-Torque applications like mixing drywall mud, grout, floor leveler, thinset mortar, even small batches of concrete. I've never had mine act up and none of my buddies have ever seen one burn out. If you're looking for something to run self-feed (forstner) bits through studs & top plates, this isn't the tool to use. Wth a bit installed, it will not fit in between 16" OC stud/joist spaces. A Milwaukee Hole-Hawg or Super Hawg will be much more suited for that application. But if you've got a need to mix cements, grouts, or muds though, this the tool to use.

I have been using this Impact for approx 10 mo. on a daily basis for my business and have no complaints. This has probably been the most durable power tool that I have ever owned. This driver can take quite the beating. It has been dropped plenty of times, thrown at numerous employees and still works just as good as the first time I used it. bought this when it was on amazon for 71 dollars, for the whole set. ive loved it since then, the saw can rip and cut pretty much anything, tho u do need a guide. the drill has a lot of torque, and does tend to twist in the hand on higher speeds, as it is very compact. ive dropped it twice, no damage that i can tell. the lantern is less useful than a spotlight, but nobody buys this package for the lantern. all in all, i gave it 4 stars, the only problem ive had is a tendency to strip screws rather easily, but thats probably the bit im using...

Now this drill won't make a fashion statement and you might even get a few snickers will you pull it out because of the brand, Black and Decker, isn't a professional brand. Well I normally simply remind them that B&D drills are made on the same lines that produce DeWalt (professional level) drills and that the looks/brand isn't as important as results. Normally by the end of day/project they start asking me how much a paid..:) I reply about half of what you paid (I spent just under a hundred for mine) for your pretty drill or about the price of the second battery they needed while I was still on my first one.

It is a solid performer that never lets me down. I also don't have to worry about expensive add on items or it getting stolen nearly as much of my more expensive drills. Plus you have the benefit of knowing if it does ever die, you aren't out nearly as much. All of that means it is the first drill I normally reach for and it gets more actual use than my others. If you can get this for under a hundred you won't regret it!

The hammer and the quick release are very nice. They work great.

The cons: The quick release has 3 allen screws that I did not seem to have a wrench for, they came loose & I lost 2. They are pretty small (short). It should have come with the allen wrench in my opinion. The box is too small to put everything back into if you have the quick release and an air fitting on the hammer. It does not come with a nice carrying case, just the cardboard box. That would not be such a big deal if there were not a bunch of chisels.

This drill has been my constant companion since buying a home. I've used it to hang things, drill things, unscrew things, screw-in things, dismantle things, reconnect things, and even once as a flashlight -- kind of.

This drill has a pretty good heft but it's balanced so it's not unwieldy. It's a bit heavy, but I don't have any issues using it for a few hours.

Unlike some drills I've used, this one stays put when I set it on the battery pack, whether I set it on a hard floor or carpeted one. Its balance is very secure (you can't tip it over just touching or bumping it).

I haven't found much use in the rotating battery pack, but I am sure someday I'll run across something and then I'll be thankful for it. As it is now, it's a non-issue -- it clicks into place and stays put just fine (not sure why some have had problems with theirs) unless you turn it.

The addition of a light is kind of nice, but I wish there was a way to turn it on without having to pull the trigger; to have it be a flashlight *and* drill would be utterly divine.

If this drill ever dies, I will be looking into another Denali drill to replace it (unless of course this one turns into a flaming ball of molten plastic or something when it goes). For the price, you get a lot!

Every electrician I worked for had one of these and they are a great tool. I set the right angle drive head so it is at the "high" speed setting, the 3002 might have been the better call since it is a bit faster but I opted for the higher capacity drill. I was considering the hole hawg or super hawg but couldn't justify the extra weight, and the head on the 3107 is a bit smaller and slower speed overall than the super hawg and a lot smaller than the standard hole hawg. I'm not roughing in new houses every day or else one of the heavier tools might have been a better call (in which case I'd have opted for the makita DA4031). The reviews comparing the milwaukee 3107 to the comparable makita unit all pointed to the makita being slightly superior (easier to remove the chuck & to change the right angle drive unit, quieter operation, higher speed, reversing switch in a better location), regardless of all the pluses for the makita I opted for the milwaukee 3107 kit. I have extensive use with the milwaukee and know it is a great tool and long lasting, also the 5year warranty is a big plus over makita's 3year. In 2007 I jumped ship from milwaukee and bought a cordless LXT600 set from makita. While the tools are designed very well and have a lot of cool innovations that seemed to take milwaukee years to follow (LEDs for illumination), I had many annoying problems with them and a half dozen returns back to makita (sticking chucks, gear boxes stripped out, charger fan, sawzall recip mechanism), at that point I'd be using my trusty 14.4v milwaukee cordless hammerdrill to fill in the gaps.

So after all the bs I had to deal with the makita tools I decided to return to milwaukee, and I will do so if I end up replacing my current cordless set, but that won't be for several more years. The 3107 might not be as well designed a tool as the makita unit but it's a super solid traditional performer and I'm sure it won't disappoint, and it has a 5year warranty. I searched for reviews, real ones as opposed to bogus blatant endorsements, or weekenders and only found one where a plumber in CO had reviewed a bunch and it seemed legit. The blow molded case is a bummer for bit storage to fix it and make it useful you have to cut a hole in the plastic bridging the lower left & right "pockets".

First off I love tools and have quite a collection, but they have to be reliable. I bought this maybe a few years ago and have used it only a handful of times and I just burned out the second one. The first one stopped working while doing some light routing work on some pine, which is a soft wood. I sent it to the company, who replaced it for free, and just burned out the second one after using it probably two or three times. Most recently it was used to cut off a stripped screw, that's what killed it, a screw. Anyway, I'm very disappointed and would not recommend this tool, or really any other Dremel. I suppose there's always Rotozip.

Bare drills are not a bad way to go if you already have one of the manufacturer's kits with a compatible charger and don't like to use a hard shell case to carry your drill around. The full size batteries are not cheap but you can buy just what you need. We learned our lesson and would never buy the Makita "reconditioned" drills but the bare-tools are good buy.

I like the overall feel and fit of the full size Makita drills and for hammer action having the depth control rod intergrated into the handle is really a cool design. The depth rod is something provided on some of the Bosch hammer drills but none of the ones from Milwaukee or DeWalt. The side handle has the best design of any drill. The side handle can be anywhere around the drill head (like the DeWalt design and unlike Milwaukee and Ridgid) and it is easy to tighten for a snug fit that won't slip and yet is easy to loosen and adjust. Most of the time I find that the 90 degree straight out position of the side handle provides the least control over the drill so I like the Makita and DeWalt approach where I can place it so it will do the most good depending upon the situation.

Makita batteries charge very fast but are supposed to have a half-hour minimum cool down time. You can ignore this but as the Makita have a short 1-year warranty on their batteries I prefer to wait the extra time and hope to have longer battery life.

Unlike older Makita drills I have this one has vent holes in the back that are easy to accidentally cover with your second hand as when trying to help a bi-metal hole saw make its way through a board. Why Makita took a good design and changed it to this is a mystery but something to watch when using the drill.

The clutch action is smooth and changing from low to high range takes little effort. Important with the Makita gearbox not to overdrive it by using it in its high speed setting on tough drilling tasks. Lots of problems with Makita gearboxes failing and it is partly the design of the gearbox and partly the misuse of the tool by people not will to drive the drill at 450 RPM.

You can do yourself and your drill a favor by using efficient hole cutters and the larger the hole you are cutting the greater the advantages. We use the Blue Boar stucco hole cutters and their large gullet carbide hole cutters and not only save a lot of time, we get many more holes from each battery and we don't beat the drills up nearly as much - and did I mention we save a lot of time.

For most hole cutting operations the larger hole cutters work best at around 1000 RPM where there is more momentum when the tips strike something hard. Very few drills have a gearing selection for this speed range but if you want the best performance these drills make a big difference. The Makita's top out at 1500 RPM compared to 1700-2100 for competitors drills. Where this makes a difference is when we are drilling through metal, though we benefit even more by using cobalt drills instead of high speed steel ones.

Two thirds of the problems I see people having with their hand drills comes from using them incorrectly or with the wrong hole cutters or drill bits. Drill manufacturers with their universally skimpy manuals don't help either and they really should provide some guidance on how to get the most out of their tools. It would help their customers and most likely reduce the amount of warranty repairs they have to handle as well.

I got this drill for a Christmas present and fell in love with it. I had a 14.4V Black & Decker that I thought was pretty good until I took this drill out of the box. You can feel the quality when you pick it up. The torque is surprising when it first kicks in. It caught me off guard because I was used to the weaker Black & Decker. The battery is drained quickly because of the torque. I also have the Rigid 90 degree impact drill, another awesome Rigid product, which uses the same batteries and charger so I have two chargers and four batteries.

These are almost impossible to find in the stores because everyone is moving to the 16V or higher drills. This drill is a nice size with plenty of power; get it while you still can.

I discovered the Milwaukee 5380-21 when I owned an old 3/8" corded drill and wanted to get into the 1/2" drill category. I was not looking for a hammer drill but found the added expense quite modest when compared with the ability to hammer into masonry which being a relatively new homeowner I realized I would have need of this function. After our last trip to the vet, I knew I finally had to find an alternative to nail clippers. My 100-pound St. Bernard/Lab mix has very thick black nails, so they are difficult to trim. I did some searching on Amazon and came across the Dremel 761-03 Pet Grooming Tool. After reading customer reviews, I decided to buy the 7700-02 instead. It's perfect!!

At first my dog was very nervous, so I gave her lots of praise and small treats, until she was used to the noise. Then I moved on to sanding one nail at a time, followed by a small treat. Now when she sees the Dremel, she gets exited and happily lays down for her manicure! The sanding creates a lot of nail dust, and tiny chips can shoot through the air, so you'll want to do this outside and wear protective eye wear.

This tool is very lightweight and easy to maneuver. I wish I would have done this years ago! If your dog has large nails, this is the tool for you!

This was one of my first drills and it works great. I am a hobbyist and this works great. I bought it solely on the reviews, that this is one the best reasonable priced drills with power and so far its true.

I have been buying other Hitachi products because of this drill. Those other products didnt always rate up but this one is still going.

The light is a regular bulb and could use updating to a high power LED but otherwise this is a good buy.

I have had the Panasonic EY7540LN2L 14.4 VOLT IMPACT DRIVER and LIGHT for about a month. I have been using for installing track for radiant heat, for the first and second floor heating. Which consisted of screwing in 200 tracks. The impact driver worked just what I was hopping for. I did drop it a few times and no problems with it, keeps on going.

The driver is light in the hands and allows for continuous use, with fatigue. Also used it for driving timber lock screws and it worked better than expected.

I did not think I would use the light but it came in very handy while working underground when the electricity went out.

As I said I have only had it for about a month, but use it every day and am very please with it.

This is a pretty good drill. I cant say a whole lot about it though because I don't use it a whole lot. The craftsmanship is good and it's a very simple design. Has a Jacobs chuck and comes with a 2 year warrany. It's also American made wich is always a big factor for me when buying anything. First the good:

This is a solid tool with great daily performance- drives your screws like a cordless drill could only hope to.

Now the not so good:

DeWalt's batteries seem to fail a LOT earlier than they used to. I don't know why but at $60 each to replace them, well, I'm not thrilled.

I have owned this tool for about 1 1/2 years. In that time I built 3 good sized decks with it and it performed very well for the most part, but. . . .today it failed (broke).

I estimate the tool drove 4,000 3-inch screws. That sounds like a lot but honestly, the tool was used rather modestly. I THINK the brushes burned up. Unfortunately, unlike the competition's impact driver, DeWalt's brushes are not user-serviceable- they are inaccessible unless you open the tool housing. It will cost (MINIMUM) $75 to repair along with a lengthy stay in the repair shop due to DeWalt's SLOW performance delivering repair parts. I will have at least 3-4 weeks of down time just waiting for parts.

In general, while this is a very useable tool I am not very impressed with it's longevity and have already ordered a lighter, more powerful, easier to service unit from another maker to hold me until (and IF) this comes back from the repair shop.

Homeowner buyer: buy it.

Pro daily user: keep looking, friend.

Edit: I spoke to my tool repair guy today. It was the (plastic) cooling fan that broke. Seems they get brittle with usage, eventually shattering. While DeWalt is aware of this problem they will not remedy the issue for those of us that own this tool.

Also, the little fan will cost around $50 and labor is approx. $75.

Interesting coincidence that you can buy the 'bare tool' for $129.

Let me say that the drill did perform well on all tasks: screw driving, drilling and hammer drilling. Problem was both batteries would no longer hold charge after eight months of use. They were most likely charge cycled about 25 times. I did use it alot for high current tasks such as lag screw driving and hammer drilling so the deep discharging my have something to do with it. May be a good tool for homeowner tasks. My Rigid 18 volt had better torque and the batteries are still working and its an older tool. I did notice newer Makita LiOn tools use a different style battery connection design thus your older tools (NiMH) can't use them. Rigid tools bought with NiMH batteries can be used with newer Lion batteries

I'm a weekend project warrior and tend to buy tools at the cheaper end of the spectrum. I was a little hestitant on buying a drill at $100+ but this is definitely worth the investment. I also own a bigger, heavier drill for bigger things but I'm sure this would take care of that stuff too. I guess if I had to be really picky my only complaint would be that this drill/driver, along with the other compact drills from this line do not stand up when you put them down. I know it's minor but I didn't realize how nice that would have been.

Well, I just wanted to add my two cents here and say that overall there seems to be nothing WRONG with this battery, except maybe that it costs too much, wears out too fast, and can only be used in one, or a few battery operated "things" on the planet.

Looks like some (6 to be exact) c-cells in a fancy plastic cover. Why don't you tool maker guys just sell us the cover for 3.99 and let us put our own dang batteries in it?!?! (I would even buy rechargables so I didn't blow myself up) you might need a sticker for that!

Anyway... its a great tool and the battery does whats it's s'posed to do. (make paslode a lot of dough)

PS: My dead Makita drill battery was (7) c-cells in an expensive plastic cover. :-)

Seriously though folks... this battery is AWESOME. 'Cause it powers one of the most handy innovative nail guns ever made!!! once you own one, you'll likely be hooked, and not mind the occasional outrageously priced fancily packed c-cell purchase to keep it running.

Watch for the complainers out there, who think they've been ripped, jipped, etc. and take it out by giving this drill a bad review.

This is an awesome drill...with the quality assurance Milwaukee is famous for. Sure, some of the complaints may be legitimate, however, they do not detract from the performance and quality of this drill. The 28 volt, lithium ion battery lasts for hours of good use, and is quick to recharge. The keyless chuck is amazingly tight, even with the smallest drill bits, and very quick/easy to change between bits.

I will not go into all the details and finer points of this drill. The 5-year warranty, and other good reviews speak for itself. I also bought the work light that uses the same battery, (MLW49-24-0185 V28), and it is the most amazing light I have found. Just read the many great reviews for it.

I have purchased two of these an both of them have failed. The first was part of a Bosch set. I used it infrequently but it still died (after the warranty had lapsed.) I then bought a replacement "reconditioned" one and it, too, failed. I don't know what the problem is, both simply stopped functioning. Nothing happens when you press the trigger. It's not the batteries since the batteries work fine in my other Bosch tools.

Other than this product, I am a fan of Bosch's cordless tools that I have (circular saws, sawzall, drills, impact driver). I just bought another set because my first set had gotten banged up after years of use.

I've had the BP140 for a little over a month now, and it's performance is exceptional. It is truly a one tool does all. I have absolutely no trouble shifting between the various modes. It is smooth and requires very little effort. Like any drill I've had with a mechanical speed selector, a slight rotation of the motor is all that's needed if the shift lever does not move easily. Think of a manual transmission in a car. If the gears are not aligned properly, you can't move the shift lever into any gear. I find the screwdriver clutch settings to be just right. They're set at the lower end of the torque range, but when I need to drive a fastener at a higher torque range I'm using the impact mode anyway. The two speed ranges in the drill mode are excellent.

So all in all I'm very satisfied with this all in one tool. And this Makita drill is made in Japan, not china.

Purchased this drill awhile back due to the fact I needed a compact light drill for working around the house I just recently purchased. I was amazed by the power this thing has on a rechargeble battery.

I drilled through drywall, wood, and even some stone outside in the backyard to mount a few things and it never overheated or failed on me. Performed fantastically.

The most shocking aspect was the fact that it kept its power even until the very end! I was in the midst of drilling into studs to mount my LCD flat panel display and was working fine then suddenly stop! No slowdown, no loss of power gradually.

One con I would say is the time it took to charge the batteries. For a quick charge station and battery I was hoping for something that was shorter than 30 minutes, but it took over an hour to charge my dead battery :(.

All in all great product from Milwaukee, would recommend this if your a home do it yourselfer (can't really say anything if it's intended for commercial use.
